Qatari officials visit Iran’s stand at Doha Book Fair

IBNA- Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister Mohsen Javadi officially welcomed Qatari Parliament Speaker Ahmad bin Abdollah Al-e Mahmoud and Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali visiting Iran’s stand at Doha International Book Fair.
According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the public relations office of Iran’s Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI), in this visit, Mohsen Javadi expressed pleasure over the participation of our country at the 29th edition of the Doha International Book Fair.
Honoring Qatari officials visit to Iranian stand, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance presented several poetry books composed by the celebrated Persian poets to them.
Parliament Speaker and Minister of Culture and Sport of Qatar for their part appreciated the participation of Iranian publishers in the 29th edition of the Doha International Book Fair and welcomed the participants.
Javadi who has been invited to the event as the guest of honor then visited other stands in the book fair and was informed about the situation of books and publishing industry in the Islamic countries.
Many of participants at those stands who already had attended Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) and are in contact with Iranian book and print activists, warmly welcomed Iran’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance and appreciated the efforts made by our country in the field of publishing, particularly in promoting religious books and ideas.
Organized by Qatar’s Ministry of Culture and Sports, the 29th edition of the Doha International Book Fair opened on November 29 and will run by December 8, 2018.
The Fair will be open from 9 am to 9 pm except on Friday when it will remain open from 4pm to 10 pm while the Fair’s timings on Thursday will be from 9 am to 10 pm.
The ministry states that 427 publishers from Qatar and foreign countries have participated in this event which is underway in an area spanning over 29 000 square meters. The Fair includes around 101992 titles in Arabic and 17 261 titles in other foreign languages, bringing the total Arab and foreign languages titles to 119 253.
On the sidelines of the fair, there will be many cultural events, which will range from cultural cafes (a forum for writers and authors), exhibitions of fine arts, as well as children's theatre shows and various workshops.
Russia is the guest of honor at the Doha International Book Fair in the framework of the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018. Visitors know more about Russian literature through a presentation of the most prominent publishers of Russian book.
They will also be introduced to classical Russian literature, art and culture. The Russian stand has also organize a number of lectures and workshops.
As well as Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Doha, Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ehsan Publishing, Dar ul-Saqafeh va al-Fan Publishing and Kani Mehr publishing represent our country at the event, displaying books on subjects such as Iranian culture and art, literature, tourism and Iranology.
Introducing the Grant Plan which is aimed to encourage the translation of Persian books into other languages and inviting foreign publishers to participate at the 32nd TIBF are among the other tasks which are being accomplished in Iranian stand.
Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Doha Reza Shahrivar said that the cultured people of Qatar have interestedly paid visit to our country’s stands in the latest editions of Doha International Book Fair particularly last year.
“The people of Qatar have made tourist and medical trips to Iran, so, they have a good knowledge about our country and it is hoped that through following the cultural cooperation between the two countries, the ground will be provided for the young generation of Qatar to become more familiar with the civilization of the Islamic Iran,” he added.
