IBNA- Japanese stand at the 31st Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) announced that a new wave of translation from Persian contemporary literature into Japanese has been launched.

According to IBNA correspondent, as one of the participants of the 31st Tehran International Book Fair, Japanese stand has showcased a variety of books and stories from that country.

The Japanese stand also announced that a number of Iranian visitors were displeased because the Japanese books which have been introduced are not for sale: “As a matter of fact, the policy of Japan in all international book fairs is only introducing and displaying books and the related officials do not believe in selling books in such cultural events.”

“However, a large portion of these books will be presented to the language Academy of Tehran University after the fair.”
One of the policies adopted by Japanese cultural officials is a relevantly large investment on introducing the culture and literature of our country to the other nations and it is one of the priorities of Japanese Culture Ministry.

There’s an organization titled, Japan’s Foundation of Literature which selects the books of our country for translation into other languages. It annually provides comprehensive booklets in which the noted works of Japanese literature are introduced and sent for the publishers in other countries.”
