Musicians play in Khayyam millennium celebration

IBNA- The first meeting of Omar Khayyam millennium celebration was held with Iranian and foreign researchers in attendance on Thursday as musicians Christophe Rezai and Hadi Montazeri performed at the program.

correspondent, Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran played host to this event, which has been organized by Iran’s Society of Cultural Works and Luminaries. Director of the society Hassan Bolkhari announced that it was the first program from the series aimed to celebrate the millennium.
Various subjects such as “Khayyam, Geometry, Mathematics”, “Khayyam, Iranian Islamic Philosophy”, “Khayyam and Wisdom” and “Khayyam and Music” were considered and discussed at the program.
Three foreign guests delivered speeches at the first meeting including Professor Darko Tanaskovic, the chairman of Oriental Studies Department in Belgrade University, who is also the Serbian delegate to UNESCO.
A Hungarian artist and sculptor András Sándor Kocsis, who has set up a statue of Khayyam one of the cities of his country also took part in the event. Moreover, a Hungarian version of ‘Rubaiyat’ by Khayyam translated by Sándor Kocsis and illustrated by Gizella Varga Sinai has been released.
Iranian experts Gholam-Hossein Dinani, Abdollah Anvar, Gholam-Reza A’vani, Yunes Keramati and Ahmad Tamimdari also made speeches at the meeting.
