The Power of Medicaments

The second part of the book deals with minor issues in ophthalmology including the singular and compound medicine for the eyes in two sections: the first section introduces practical principles of medical usage in five chapters: the first chapter introduces different types of eye medicines according to humors, that is in itself divided into mineral, herbal, and organic medicines and their best types. For instance, among the best mineral medicines are Vitriol of Kerman, and Tutty (zinc oxid) of India (page 191). And the best herbal drugs are Zabul, Qassan, Fawakeh, and Arzan.

The second chapter deals with different humors of each ophthalmic medicine, as well as a thorough understanding of each issues such as the time the medicine takes effect in the patient, color, smell, taste, and the ways singular drugs take effect in the eye (pp. 192 – 193).
