Mirzaaghaei: “Islamic medicine; a path to health”
“The triangle of health”, a book by Aliakbar Mirzaaghaei was criticized on Sunday, July 15, in Taleghani cultural center. During the session, the author said that Islamic and traditional medicine teach us how to live healthy. IBNA: The criticizing session of “The triangle of health” was held on Sunday, July 15, with the attendance of the book’s author Aliakbar Mirzaaghaei.
During the session, the author talked about his personal experiences and his motives for penning such a book.
He talked about the book saying that it was a result of the experiences of a part of his life.
Mirzaaghaei said: “Using Quranic instructions, the book presents an easy and practical guide for reaching a healthy weight. Moreover it reminds us that eating without thinking will certainly create several difficulties.”
The expert of traditional medicine then talked about the problems of overweight saying: “ I figured out the triangle through behavioral exercises made for weight loss. The triangle’s sides include determination, exercise and discipline.”
Talking about the triangle of health on which the book’s concepts are written as well, he added: “The first side is a person’s determination; since changes directly depend on a person . On the other hand, usually we eat without any plans and order which means that time and place aren’t important for us, while the creation itself was based on order.”
The author and researcher said that paying heed to the opinions of Islamic and traditional medicine is essential and added: “The book holds explanations about the body’s biological time as well through which the reader will learn that the body has different functions in different hours thus healthy foods should be eaten in certain times. The recommendations of our country’s traditional medicine is currently being taught in a modern way in foreign noted universities including Harvard.”
Besides his personal experiences, the author used the works of behavioral sciences, the holy Quran and hadiths.
He then pointed out to some ancient Iranian stories and narrations saying all the works have emphasized on the importance of healthy and regular food.
Exercise is the 3rd side he said and added: “Eating should be accompanied with activity which doesn’t only mean professional exercises. Throughout a day, a person should have physical activities which would indeed prevent many diseases.”
The book brings together many different issues including food pyramids of different countries, eating manners, food quality and quantity as well as the importance of laughing.
The 5th print of “The triangle of health” was released in Iran in 394 pages. Id : 143304 |
